Zombieville USA is mikamobile's new app available on the iPhone App store in both lite (free) and pay ($1.99) versions. This is a review of the free version.While I enjoy the look of the app -- I mean who doesn't like bloody cartoon violence, a redneck hero and legions of zombies intent on ripping the hero limb from limb -- I don't like the feel. The controls are simple enough: go left, go right, shoot, pause and enter/exit. But there's a certain awkwardness to them. They're just not all that responsive.
With my notoriously lousy eye-hand coordination, I needed to be sure that the issue wasn't me. Three other people played the game. They didn't like it much more than I did. Nor did they last much longer than I did.
I enjoy the concept. I like the way it looks, but the interface is pretty much crap. I'm not sure if the pay version is good enough to actually play, but I certainly won't pay for this after playing the free version.
